Beautiful Wisconsin!

Ahhhh...... fall in my home state is beautiful! A little fall color mixed in with the green, vivid blue skies with fluffy white clouds.  Firstborn special boy Shane and his lovely wife Nikelle have settled in rural Wisconsin. They were each raised in country type suburbs of larger cities so this is a change for them. I am constantly amazed at their adaptability to new locales and situations. One of my double first cousins, Marilyn picked me up at the Milwaukee airport and delivered me 2 hours away to their doorstep in Berlin.
Celebrated Wayne and Marilyn's birthdays together since they are 1 day different.

More cousins and good friends Jamie and Meredith who live nearby.   We spent many a weekend and vacation with them when our kids were young.

The hospital in Berlin where Shane spends most of his work hours.

Rain and the afternoon "traffic jam" in downtown Berlin! It was kind of fun to see rain twice since I arrived!

Cute building in Berlin

Local Sat AM market.... gotta love the creativity of the camper remodel.... and check out the Packer motif!

When Nikelle said, " I have never seen 5X t-shirts!" in a tone of awe and horror I had to snap a photo! And the belly in the photo is a bonus!

Nikelle outside their apartment building.
Their apartment is right on the Fox River.

There are some beautiful older homes in this town.

And then there is this....
Season is changing

You can take me out of Wisconsin but you can't destroy my love of cheese curds!

Crashed a wedding reception and saw Tina! A friend from the home area.

My buddy Oscar waiting for me to join him on the pier.  A beautiful Sunday  on Spring Lake- Jamie and Meredith's home.

Shane going native with his Berlin sweatshirt.

I love this girl who lets her MIL come to visit for a week and is such a gracious hostess.  I  am so blessed to have grown children who welcome me into their homes even after we deserted them and moved to California. Missing my husband  and my California friends but soaking up as much of WI as I can in a week!

6 Beaches in 7 Days- and so much more!

It has been a fun 10 day stretch of company and activities!  We finally got to meet Summer's Mike and we approve of her choice. Summer is our DIL's sister who lives in CA but a long ways from us.  And our co- in- laws came to stay for a night also since a funeral brought them to our area of the world. That was a bonus visit for us ;)  Cathy arrived on Monday and I whisked her straight to Oceanside Beach ( beach #1) from the airport.

Brenda and Randy- the couple that raised our wonderful DIL

Randy chilling on our patio.

Tuesday we had to stay home to wait for the carpet to be installed. We had lunch at Pedro's in Fallbrook- fish tacos of course since this is S. Cali. Cathy got the free tour of Fallbrook- very exciting!
And then on to Fro Yo for dessert.  I know I am supposed to like frozen custard best but I do prefer frozen yogurt.

Wednesday was a new day with new adventures.... we hopped in the Mini Cooper and cruised up the coast while listening to the Beach Boys. Laguna Beach ( Beach #2) was our destination. First a little shopping at our favorite store and then on to lunch at....
The Beach House where the view is fantastic and the food is fabulous!
Lobster quesadilla

Love the ambiance in the entry way
I never tire of this view!
The seagulls at Laguna Beach are very experienced thieves. We watched them steal a bag of crackers right out of a beach bag!
On Thursday Randy arrived and Dave took him directly to a  golf course from the airport.  Cathy and I explored Temecula and met some lovely ladies for lunch. Then home for dinner on the patio.

Really not sure why Cathy had the entire plate of snickerdoodles :)

Friday we dropped the guys at another golf course and headed to  Solana Beach ( beach #3).
Coffee and a little shopping first.....

Then to Fletcher's Cove.

Friday night we had dinner at some of our friends- Ann and Joel. I still don't know why Randy blamed me for ratting him out.... it was his bday the next day and Ann was serving cake so it seemed appropriate! The cake weighed about 25#-SERIOUSLY! It was delicious but so rich I was afraid I was off chocolate forever....
Our host and hostess on the left and our fellow cake eaters!
Saturday was another perfect sunny day and we headed to Peterson's Donut Corner since Randy is a dount freak and it was his birthday.
Hiked Torrey Pines.

Jacinda joined us for the hike.

This picture is worth a 1000 words....

After the hike we "beached it" at Torrey Pines ( beach #4)

On to the glideport....
Then La Jolla ( beach # 5) We watched lifeguards rescue two guys from being smashed on the rocks!
Sunday after gospel meeting we headed to the coast again.  Cardiff by the Sea ( beach #6). Watched the sunset and then dined at the Beach House.

The Beach House- we ate outside on a beautiful summer evening.

A suitable ending to a fabulous week!
